Meet Your Therapist

Kayla Szucs, LCSW - Practice Owner and Clinical Therapist

pronouns: she/her

Hello, I’m Kayla. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. I have worked in clinical settings since 2021, providing individual and family therapy through both my graduate training and continued work as a licensed therapist.

My work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a space where they can feel understood, supported, and accepted without judgment. I value authenticity, self-awareness, and growth, and I strive to create a therapeutic space that is inclusive, affirming, and respectful of each person’s lived experience. My approach to therapy is person-centered, meaning I believe you are the expert of your own experience, and our work together is tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Much of my work is with young adults and adults navigating identity, confidence, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. This stage of life can bring a lot of change and uncertainty, and therapy can be a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and gain clarity around what matters most to you.

My Approach

My work is rooted in a trauma-informed, person-centered approach and integrates several evidence-based modalities depending on your needs.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences. By targeting memories, negative beliefs, and emotional triggers at their root, EMDR allows them to feel less intense and more manageable. The goal is not to erase the past, but to help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional relief.

I have completed EMDR basic training through an EMDRIA approved program and am currently completing required consultation hours.

  • We all carry different parts of ourselves, sometimes called ego states. The part that pushes through. The part that shuts down. The part that overthinks. The part that protects.

Many of these parts developed to help you cope, survive, and stay connected when other supports were not available. Sometimes this includes exploring younger parts of you, often referred to as the inner child. The reactions you have today can be connected to earlier versions of you who learned how to adapt in difficult circumstances.

In therapy, we approach these parts with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. Together, we help them feel understood so they no longer have to work so hard to keep you safe.

  • I believe you are the expert of your own experience. Therapy is a collaborative space where you are met with empathy, authenticity, and respect while working toward growth and change.

  • We focus on identifying and building on your existing strengths and resilience. Therapy is not just about what is not working. It is also about recognizing what is already within you and using those strengths to support growth and meaningful change.

  • This approach supports understanding how past experiences may shape present thoughts, emotions, and reactions while building practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm.
